How To Do Everything With Ease

I have recently started applying a little known principle in my life that is quietly revolutionising how I feel about the many tasks I must complete in any given day. It’s so simple yet so effective. When you start practising this principle on an ongoing basis you will never stop using it. It involves a little bit of NLP i.e. Neuro-Linguistic Programming - the study of how language affects the nervous system. Are you ready for it?

Not matter what it is you have to do, TELL YOURSELF IT’S EASY

That’s it! Think of how your psychological state is affected by telling yourself that something is hard to do it, very uninspiring isn’t it? However, think of a task and repeat to yourself, “that’s easy”, in such a way that you really believe yourself. In a nice calm, relaxed manner, “yeah, that’s pretty easy”. Feels a hell of a lot better doesn’t it? Let’s take a look at the benefits of such an approach.

(1) You’ll actually start acting! With the ‘easy’ approach, you’ll take action towards the completion of your tasks as you won’t feel overwhelmed by the enormity of everything.

(2)You’ll chunk your tasks down. You’re more likely to think of a project in individual, bite-size chunks rather than one mammoth undertaking when you start using the ‘easy’ method. This is a another powerful-yet-simple principle in productivity.

(3)You’ll encounter less problems. Well, you’ll encounter less perceived problems. When you don’t think in terms of struggle and strife, you face your work with a renewed optimism. In time, the amount of actual challenges arising will decrease as your old mindset was actually subconsciously creating them. This is what is called self-sabotage, you created for yourself just what you expected to see.

(4)Your stress levels will decrease. Pretty self-explanatory. Stress is self-created. If you perceive yourself to be overwhelmed, you’ll produce stress and be putting your health at risk. Change your beliefs - change your perceptions - change your results. One of which will be a relaxed and pleasant approach to work.

(5)You will be more creative. As I said in my article ‘How To Double Your Brain Power!’, creativity favours the relaxed mind. Try writing a great article, a great song or poem while being stressed out of your brain! I doubt you will have great results. Stay calm, tell yourself it’s easy and trust that the words will come and they do!

Some of you might be thinking, “But what if a task really is hard, should I really be deluding myself like this?” Let me ask you, is taking the first action hard? You can only complete one step at a time. Couple this with the self-suggestion, “This is easy” and I guarantee you will find that your work gets a heck of a lot easier.
