Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s Advice For Achieving Goals
What do Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Jack Canfield and Wayne Dyer all have in common? They know, practice and teach others a great secret to achieving the desires of their heart. In this article you will be introduced to this great principle.
Martin Luther King said,
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
Jack Canfield (the author of the “Chicken Soup” series) says that we must trust that the way to achieving our goals will unfold as we go along. He said it is similar to driving a car at night. The headlights will only let you see 100-200 ft ahead of yourself but as you drive along the next 200 ft will be illuminated and the direction made clear.
Wayne Dyer says that waiting until everything is perfect, or until you think you know what will happen at every step of the way is akin to not setting out on a journey until you know that every traffic light that you will come across will be green. Basically, you’re not going to go anywhere.
Act Now!
Also Napoleon Hill said that we must take action whether we are ready or not. The principle being shared here is that when setting out to achieve a goal, you don’t need to know how it’s going to unfold at every step (such a thing is impossible anyway), you just need to start acting, and start NOW! Believe me, if you desire the goal enough and believe it is yours, a way will be made.
Changing Direction
Oftentimes the way we had things planned is not how they turn out anyway. When you
start to take action in the direction of a goal, inspired ideas bombard you and helpful people will offer advice and help that can alter the route you had planned, or accelerate your results. On the other hand, unforeseen challenges can also present themselves that will need to be surmounted. This can alter your course but in the long-run challenges are always beneficial because of the opportunity for growth that they provide.
In my experience though, goals are always achieved faster than I had planned or with less effort than I had anticipated. I couldn’t see the whole staircase whether it was building this website, building the body I wanted or starting a mastermind group. I set out in faith and the rest fell into place.
Your Beliefs Will Dictate Your Results
No matter what it is you want in life, step out boldly in faith! Act and believe that your outcome is assured and you can be assured that it will be. Remember the Law of Attraction brings to us what we are thinking and feeling about, it responds to faith. The ideas, people and circumstances will present themselves if you act in this manner. However, if you believe that you aren’t yet ready or that you can’t see how it’s all going to work out, expect to meet with failure. Your results will be a reflection of your beliefs.
